Tigers On Top For Talented DB Following Visit

Erique Florence talks about his Auburn visit and whey the Tigers are on top.

Valley, Ala.--For talented safety prospect Erique Florence, a visit to Auburn is nothing out of the ordinary. A frequent traveler down I-85 to the Plains, the speedster is very familiar with Gene Chizik's program and the campus. That didn't stop him from taking an official visit over the weekend though as he got the opportunity to get an even closer look at things.

"I would say they are number one right now," Florence said about the Tigers following his visit. "Basically it's just where I feel more comfortable at this point and time. I'm more comfortable at Auburn than anywhere. I feel like I can trust the coaching staff and we can do great things there if I come."

One of the important things for Florence was the opportunity to show his family why Auburn is so high on his list. With them along for the visit he said it was nice to get a chance to see the campus and everything about the program once again.

"I had seen everything I needed to see but my family got a chance to get more in-depth with the education and football," he added. "They got to see the facilities and I got a chance to hang out with more of the recruits and players to get a feel for what it's like to be an Auburn Tiger. It was a great experience for all of us. They enjoyed it and I enjoyed it as well."

Florence was part of a huge group of talented uncommitted prospects in for the visit weekend. He said having the chance to sit down with most of those guys gave him a feel that things are getting ready to be big for the Tigers in the future.

"I think they got them," Florence said.

While he's not looking around and has already committed to Auburn, quarterback Kiehl Frazier was on hand for the visit weekend to hang out with some of the players. Driving all the way from Arkansas with his dad, Frazier's level of commitment was something that stuck out to Florence.

"It's huge," Florence said. "Being in Mobile with Brent Calloway, who's committed to Alabama and talks about Auburn, all of talked about where we might end up and coming to Auburn where Kiehl Frazier is. Him just winning the state championship and the MVP, the great player he is coming back and hanging out (was great). Just getting to know him and building that relationship is kind of nice."

Playing with Auburn commitments Jonathan Rose and Anthony Swain in the recent Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game, Florence said that he couldn't help but think about what the future could hold down the road.

"Me, Rose and Swain were all down there and they are big-time Auburn commits," Florence said. "If I come then we would pretty much be the secondary at Auburn. I think we would be a pretty strong one."

With visits scheduled for USC and Alabama in January, Florence said he doesn't plan on making a decision until signing day and it will just be about where he's most comfortable.

"It's just somewhere I feel comfortable and somewhere we can win ballgames," Florence said. "The educational-part comes first. I'll sit down and talk with my family to see if they want me to go far off or if they feel more comfortable with me being closer and where they feel like they can trust somebody with me."
