Banquet To Honor AU Senior Athletes

Auburn, Ala.--The Senior Olympic Sports Banquet, an affair the Auburn Athletic Department and the Lee County Auburn Club plans to make an annual event, has been scheduled for Monday, April 21st.

Senior athletes in all sports except for football and men's basketball will be honored. Those two sports have their own separate functions.

A social hour will start at 6 p.m. at the Auburn University Hotel & Dixon Conference Center with the banquet to begin at 7 p.m.

David Marsh has coached his men's and women's teams to national swimming titles this season.

Tickets are $30 or a table of eight is $300. Corporate sponsorships are available for $500. Reservations can be made by contacting Sara Wade at (334) 524-5658 or Lee County Auburn Club president John Scott Henderson at (334) 821-9494. The deadline for reservations is Friday and the address to send checks to is to LCAC, P.O. Box 4154, Opelika, AL 36803 and the checks should be made to the Auburn University Foundation. Tickets to the event will be available for pickup at the registration tables at the conference center.

Maggie Bowen, a senior All-American swimmer, led Auburn to back-to-back national championsips. She will be one of the seniors honored.

Henderson, the president of the Lee County Auburn Club, will provide opening remarks along with Auburn University president William Walker. Mike Hubbard of the Auburn Network will be the master of ceremonies and coaches from each Auburn team will introduce their seniors. Auburn athletic director David Housel will provide the closing remarks.
