Four-Star Visiting Chizik's Tigers

Talented prospect Jermaine Whitehead will be on Auburn's campus for an official visit this weekend.

Greenwood, Miss.--Rated as the nation's number 24 cornerback prospect, speedy Elzy High standout Jermaine Whitehead is one of the most intriguing players still left on the board as signing day draws closer. With Mississippi State and Ole Miss thought to be the main schools vying for his signature, Whitehead will take a trip to Auburn this weekend to see if the Tigers can get into the picture as well.

An athletic player at 6-0, and just over 180 pounds, the four-star Whitehead is being recruited on both sides of the ball by teams such as Pittsburgh with even Auburn a possibility to see some time with the ball in his hands if he chose the Tigers. Familiar with Gene Chizik's program, Whitehead said there are lots of things to like about Auburn.

"When I went to their camp last summer they told me a national championship was coming," Whitehead said. "That's a well-coached team. They have a lot of character and discipline."

A very good student who reports a 3.8 GPA and a 23 on the ACT, Whitehead has offers from Stanford, Miami and several other programs in addition to Auburn, MSU and Ole Miss.

As a senior Whitehead scored 14 total touchdowns playing both offense and defense. Two of those scores came off interceptions and he picked off five total passes in 2010. As a junior he had over 1,500 all-purpose yards on offense with 32 tackles and three interceptions on defense.
