Delaware Defensive Linemen Signs With Auburn

Big Angelo Blackson has signed to play college football for the Auburn Tigers.

Position/Scout Ranking: Angelo Blackson, 6-5, 294, Red Lion Christian Academy, Bear, Delaware, three stars, ranked as the No. 29 defensive tackle prospect in the country.

Auburn's Main Competition: Maryland, Missouri and North Carolina State were among the colleges the early commitment considered. He chose the Tigers not long after visiting Auburn to check out the A-Day spring football game and Coach Gene Chizik's program.

Why Auburn Signed Him: Defensive tackle is a huge need for the Tigers with the top contributors at that position for the 2010 team departing. With the lack of depth up front on the defense, Blackson will have the chance to come in and earn a spot in the playing rotation this fall.

Worth Noting: A good all-around athlete who averages 20.2 per game in basketball, he attracted the attention of colleges in that sport, too, but he is focused on being a college football player for the Tigers.
