Lexington, Ky.--Horrible shooting, miserable ball-handling and a poor rebounding performance led to a blowout SEC road loss for the Auburn women's basketball Tigers who fell 69-38 to the Kentucky on Thursday night.
The teams came into the contest tied for second place in the SEC at 6-2, but UK made it clear it was the better team.
Blanche Alverson, who scored a dozen points, was the only Auburn player in double figures. Freshman Courtney Strain was the second leading scorer for the Tigers with seven points.
Forward Victoria Dunlap led the Lady Kats with 10 points and 10 rebounds as UK?improved its record to 18-4 while Auburn fell to 13-9.
Auburn turned the basketball over 28 times and was out-rebounded 44-27 by UK. The Tigers made just 16-49 field goals (32.7 percent) while Kentucky was 24-62 from the field for 38.7 percent.
The Tigers return to action with a 2 p.m. home game on Sunday vs. Mississippi State.
