Williams adds Gator offer

Quinteze Williams had not heard anything from the new Florida coaching staff until Monday evening and that is when he heard from them in a big way.

"Coach [Travaris] Robinson called my coach and my dad to tell them that I was being offered by Florida," Quinteze Williams told Scout Monday evening. "After Coach Robinson talked to my dad, I got on the phone with him, and he asked me, 'how a full ride from Florida sound'?. I said good and he let me know that I had one."

"It was a pretty big surprise because I had not heard anything from the new coaches at Florida yet. I did not know if they knew about me or not, so finding out I had an offer from them was very exciting."

The UF offer is offer number seven for Williams. Auburn, Florida State, Louisville, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Tennessee have offered the 6-foot-4, 244 pound versatile lineman as well.

No early leader, but the Gators definitely have his attention.

"I am still very open, but as of right now, Florida is pretty high on my list," said the junior out of Tyrone (GA) Sandy Creek. "I have not been down there yet, but I like their winning tradition, what I have seen on T.V., and I liked what Coach Robinson told me on the phone."

Who could be next to offer one of the top juniors in the Peach State? Williams said it is too hard to tell.

"It could be a number of schools. Alabama, Georgia, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and just about every school is sending me a lot of letters and showing me a lot of attention. I want more offers, so I am excited to see who will be next."

Scout's Chad Simmons named Williams as a top 15 junior in Georgia back in November. He is a versatile lineman that could play on either side of the ball on the next level. Florida offered him as a strong-side defensive end.

Chad Simmons started out with Scout in 2003 covering top talent in Georgia and other areas in the South. He then moved on to another Recruiting Service from 2004-2008 before returning to Scout the first of 2009 to become Southeast Recruiting Manager.
