2011 Auburn Football Schedule Released

Auburn will open the season against Utah State as the Tigers take on a very challenging schedule in 2011.

Auburn, Ala.--Coming off a BCS National Championship in 2010, the Auburn Tigers will begin defense of the title when they open the 2011 season on Sept. 3 against Utah State at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Things ramp up considerably after that for coach Gene Chizik's team as the Tigers face Mississippi State, Florida, Ole Miss and Alabama at home in Southeastern Conference games at Jordan-Hare Stadium but it's the road schedule that will be very challenging. Going on the road four times in the league in addition to a Sept. 17 trip to Clemson, Auburn will play at South Carolina, Arkansas, LSU and Georgia next season.

The Tigers open SEC play on Sept. 10 at home versus Mississippi State before traveling to Clemson on Sept. 17 and rounding out the month by hosting Florida Atlantic (Sept. 24).

Auburn will begin October with consecutive road games at South Carolina (Oct. 1) and Arkansas (Oct. 8). The game at South Carolina will be the Tigers' first appearance in Columbia since 2006. The Tigers return home to host Florida on Oct. 15 for the first time since 2006, followed by a trip to LSU (Oct. 22) and back to Jordan-Hare Stadium on Oct. 29 against Ole Miss.

Following two seasons of playing 11 consecutive games before an off week, Auburn will have its off week on Nov. 5 after nine games in 2001 before traveling to face Georgia on Nov. 12. Auburn Heisman Trophy winner Pat Sullivan and the Samford Bulldogs will travel to Jordan-Hare Stadium to face the Tigers on Homecoming Nov. 19 with the regular season concluding Nov. 26 against Alabama in the Iron Bowl.
