Running back/safety Beniquez Brown has been favoring the Auburn Tigers since the recruiting process started and for a while coach Gene Chizik's club was one of his only offers. However, that has changed dramatically in the last two weeks as several more teams have come on board including Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas and Georgia. He said it's becoming interesting the more schools he hears from.
"Every day I get a new offer or a phone call," Brown says. "I'm just taking it day by day. I'm trying to visit every place I can."
Saturday that was Auburn, a school he's very familiar with having followed them as his team for quite some time. Spending time with the coaching staff and checking out the campus, Brown said he got a different view of what it would be like to be at Auburn.
"They talked about family and I like that," Brown says. "If I go down there I'm going to be away from mom. I just like that aspect of being around family and coaches dedicated to Christian life. Everything is right down there."
Recently he's said that he wants to make his decision early and get it over with so he can concentrate on his senior year. Following his visit to Auburn he says that's now changed.
"Everything is still wide open," Brown notes. "I still have a lot of visits to go. I'm just keeping it wide open. Auburn is still holding that top spot though.
"I grew up an Auburn fan, but when I went to Alabama they made a big impression on me," Brown adds. "That's why I'm still wide open. Auburn is still holding the top spot."
With several more unofficial visits on the schedule for him between now and the time school begins next fall, Brown says at the moment the only thing he's sure of is that he's not anywhere close to making a choice.
"It's getting harder and harder every day," Brown says. "I like Tennessee and Alabama and Auburn. I'm probably going to wait it out until signing day."
