Keithon Redding, a 6-1, 195-pounder with 4.5 speed, says he enjoyed his visit. "It was a great experience meeting all of the top prospects and being at Auburn," he says.
"I am hearing from Georgia Tech, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Oklahoma State and a couple more," says Redding, who notes that he is still waiting on his first scholarship offer. However, he adds that he doesn't think it will be long before that happens. "I think I have got some coming in," he says.
His numbers are certainly the kind that attract the attention of college scouts. "I scored 13 touchdowns and I came close to 1,000 receiving yards last season," he says. "I finished with 980."
Redding's team had a disappointing season in 2010. "We finished at 4-6, but I think we are going to be better next year," he says. "We have been working hard over the winter to get better and we will do that in the summer, too."
One of the better athletes at the recent Chad Simmons Scout Showcase event, he had one of the top standing broad jumps with a leap of nine feet, six inches. Redding is currently running the sprints for Columbia High.
He notes that he expects to see Auburn's coaches visit him at spring football practice. "I talked to the coaches and they said they were going to come down to our school a lot to check us out," Redding says. "They told me they are also interested in our running back (Kenno Loyal) so hopefully they will see what I have got."
