Clayton Drafted By Tennessee Titans

Zach Clayton was drafted in the seventh round by the Tennessee Titans.

Auburn, Ala.--Finally staying healthy and becoming a factor all season long for the Auburn Tigers on the way to the BCS National Title, Zach Clayton parlayed that into a chance at the NFL on Saturday as he was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 212th overall pick in the seventh round.

Clayton will be reunited with his former position coach Tracy Rocker in Nashville as he left Auburn soon after signing day to take a job with the Titans.

Splitting time with fellow senior Mike Blanc in 2010, Clayton finished the season with 28 tackles, a sack, and eight tackles for a loss. Playing in 41 career games with just 15 starts Clayton totaled 65 tackles, five and a half sacks and 17 tackles for a loss.

One of the reasons for Clayton's rise on NFL scouting lists was because of his outstanding pro day at Auburn in March. Checking in at 6-2, 299, Clayton ran multiple 40-yard dash times in the high 4.6 second range. That coupled with an impressive drill session caught the eye of NFL teams.

Clayton joins teammates Cam Newton (#1 overall to Carolina) and Nick Fairley (#13 overall to Detroit) as Auburn players drafted in the 2011 draft.
