Because of that he's seen his recruiting list grow by leaps and bounds as his offers have tripled in just over a month's time. Favoring Auburn and Virginia Tech early on, he said at the moment he's just taking things very slowly.
"Things have been pretty busy," Holsey tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I don't really have a list right now. I haven't been thinking that much about recruiting lately because of track."
Holsey admits it's nice to have so many options already available to him even before his senior season starts. One of those options is defending national champion Auburn. A visitor to the Plains twice in the last year, he said there's lot to like about the Tigers heading into 2011.
"It's just a real nice school," Holsey said. "All of the coaches are nice. The facilities and everything are nice too. It's just a good school."
This spring Holsey has been focusing on track as he was part of a record-setting 4x100 team at Creekside High. In the Region 4-AAAA Meet in late April the team won with a time of 41.34 seconds. In the state meet they crushed that with a blazing time of 41.14 seconds to win the title.
With the track season behind him Holsey and his teammates will hit the football field this week to open spring practice. He said he's ready to get the pads on and work to become a better player before August and the start of his senior year.
"We start spring practice today," Holsey said. "I'm looking forward to getting back on the field. I'm just working on my technique and trying to get bigger and faster."
