Early Kickoff for Auburn-Clemson Football

Auburn-Clemson will have an early kickoff in the 2011 season.

Auburn, Ala.--On Wednesday the Atlantic Coast Conference announced kickoff times for some of its conference member football games and among the group was the Auburn at Clemson contest on Sept. 17.

With Auburn coming off a national championship last season, the Tigers vs. Tigers in Death Valley has been selected for a national broadcast on ABC that day.

Fans wanting to see the game will have to get an early start however as the contest will kick off at 11 a.m. Central time. It is a big day for the Atlantic Coast Conference as that night Ohio State plays at Miami and Oklahoma plays at Florida State in a pair of games that will be split nationally on ABC or ESPN.

It will be the 48th meeting all-time between the two schools with Auburn holding a decided advantage. With last year's 27-24 overtime win at Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn is now 34-11-2 in the series and has won 14 consecutive games against Clemson. Clemson's last win in the series came in 1951 when the Tigers defeated Auburn 34-0.

Auburn and Clemson have agreed to a third game in their current series. They will open the 2012 season in Atlanta in the Chik-fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome.

Auburn opens the 2011 season at home against Utah State on Sept. 3 and Mississippi State on Sept. 10 before traveling to Clemson the following weekend.
