Luper was the starting quarterback for AHS last fall as a sophomore and he is a major threat as a runner as well as a passer with his sprinter's speed. At the 2011 AHSAA state track and field championships, he ran a 10.82 100 meters, which placed in fourth in Class 6A finals.
Luper also showed his athletic ability by placing third in the long jump with a leap of 23 feet, four inches at the state championships. He took third in the 200 meters in a time of 21.86.
Southern Mississippi, which made the first scholarship offer, is recruiting Luper as an "athlete" as is Toledo, which has also offered. He has also been offered by Vanderbilt and UTEP as a cornerback prospect.
Currently checking in at 5-11, 185 pounds after recently turning 16 years old, Luper is the son of Auburn running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Curtis Luper. The prospect ran a 4.55 40-yard dash at a summer camp prior to his sophomore year in high school.
