"I got to talk to Coach (Mike) Pelton," Winston said after his visit to Auburn after Big Cat Weekend. "He was like, ‘They like me a lot, and they're still looking at me.' And if this place is home then it'll be. I've got to pray over it."
Winston spent only half a day on the Auburn campus, but he said it was enough to put the Tigers at No. 1 on his list if he got an offer.
"It went real good," he said. "I got to meet everybody and converse with all of the coaches. It felt like home. I felt for real like I was at home, like I belonged to something.
"Coach Pelton seems down to earth," Winston added of the first year defensive line coach. "He's going to be real with you. He's going to tell you the basics, he's going to tell you the ins and the outs, he's going to tell you everything you need to know. You can just call him up and talk to him."
Winston noted that his favorite part of the Big Cat Weekend was the dance contest. "We had the swerve and we had three minutes to practice so it wasn't too good."
He checks in at 6-6, 230 pounds and would be a defensive end in college. However, Winston has the frame to possibly add enough weight to play other positions.
"Wherever the team needs me," Winston said of his position. "I'm going to make plays regardless. I'm going to go out there, work hard and do what I have to do to make the team better and make myself better."
