More Early Start Times For Tigers

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn fans will need to break out the sunscreen for the 2011 football season with yet another early start on the schedule.

Already with one early start on the schedule with the Sept. 17 game at Clemson scheduled for an 11 a.m. CDT start on ABC, the Auburn Tigers got word on Thursday that one week earlier the Tigers will again be playing before noon on their SEC opener as well as for their season opener vs. Utah State.

The Tigers will take on the Aggies of Utah State at 11 a.m. CDT at Jordan-Hare Stadium to open the third season of the Coach Gene Chizik Era. It will be the first time Auburn has played the Aggies in football. That game will be televised on either ESPN or ESPN2.

Facing Mississippi State in week two at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Sept. 10, the game will kick off at 11:21 a.m. as part of the SEC Network coverage, according to MSU Athletic Director Scott Stricklin.

Stricklin said the SEC announced the game will be an early start that day to accommodate a request by Mississippi State. Playing a Thursday night game on Sept. 15 against LSU, the Bulldogs were hoping to get an earlier start on that Saturday and Auburn agreed.

"When approached to move LSU to Thursday we asked ESPN/SEC for early start time at Auburn," Stricklin said. "Appreciate them accommodating that request."

Last season Auburn defeated the Bulldogs 17-14 in Starkville.
