Flint And Tigers Part Ways

Oxford's Michael Flint is no longer an Auburn commitment.

Oxford, Ala.--Auburn's first commitment for the 2012 class, offensive lineman Michael Flint had been on board with Coach Gene Chizik's Tigers since last October, but that's not the case any longer.

On Monday the two sides parted ways with Flint backing off his commitment to Auburn. It was something that was hinted at last week when the lineman wasn't included in Auburn's Big Cat Weekend on the Plains.

Flint told Scout.com on Monday that he just thought his decision came too early and he needed to look elsewhere.

"Nothing really happened," Flint told Andrew Bone. "It was my decision. I made an early decision. I decided I want to take my visits and see what else is out there. I don't have any favorites. I'm starting over."

His departure leaves Auburn with commitments from Cassanova McKinzy, Zeke Pike, Darrion Hutcherson, Josh Holsey, Shane Callahan, Darius Philon and Ricardo Louis.
