Hamilton Impressive At Auburn Basketball Camp

Alex Hamilton has picked up major college scholarship offers and it won't be a surprise if more are on the way for the basketball guard.

Chipley, Fla.--A basketball prospect whose stock is on the rise was one of the more impressive performers at Coach Tony Barbee's one-day prospects camp at Auburn.

Alex Hamilton, a 6-3, 180 guard from Chipley High School, was equally at home taking a defender one-on-one, nailing a three-point shot or making a good pass at the Auburn camp.

"Everything went smooth and I really liked what I saw at Auburn," he says of his camp experience. "They have a nice facility.

"There were a lot of good athletes at the camp like Shaquille Johnson, who is already committed to Auburn, and there were others, too," Hamilton points out. "It was a nice level of competition."

Hamilton is an impressive guard prospect with some size

The rising senior earned first team Class 3A All-State honors for his high school team as a junior. This summer he is not resting on his laurels.

"I am going to stay in the gym and play with my AAU team, The Alabama Challenge," he says. "I am trying to get my jump shot right so I can draw out defenders more to open things so I can drive to the basket."

Auburn is a college of interest for a prospect who doesn't seem to be in a hurry to make a commitment. "I am still wide open now," he says. "I have offers from Middle Tennessee, Vandy, Georgia, Georgia State and a couple of others," he notes.

Hamilton says he averaged 21 points, eight assists and seven rebounds per game as a junior for Chipley High School and notes he feels at home at more than one position on a basketball court. "I am a combo guard," he says. "I am versatile. Whatever the coach needs me to do, I can do."
