Auburn Camp Recruiting Notebook

Auburn had some of their top targets for 2012 and 2013 on their campus Saturday and you can get the latest on some of those guys here.

  • Ricardo Louis - 6-2/200 - WR - Miami (FL) Miami Beach - 2012
Louis said: "If I had to grade my performance at the Auburn camp, I would give myself a 'B'. I just did not finish all the plays I needed to finish. I am an Auburn commitment and I am happy with my decision, but I wanted to take part in the camp too. I want to get as many reps as I can at wide receiver because I am making a transition to that position. I know Auburn works hard as a team and I have that same attitude. It is like one big family at Auburn and I love it there. Everyone has the same goal and I can't wait to get there."

  • Daniel McMillan - 6-3/220 - LB - Jacksonville (FL) First Coast - 2013
McMillan said: "I think I did alright at linebacker, but I know I could have done better. The coaches worked with me on my hand placement and I feel I got better at that. I strive for perfection, so I love to learn. I could see myself playing at Auburn in the future because I really like it there. I really like their facilities."

  • Robert Nkemdiche - 6-5/264 - DL - Loganville (GA) Grayson - 2013
Nkemdiche said: "I did some of the drills like figure eight and stuff like that, but the Auburn coaches told me no 1on1s because they know what I can do there. I really like the coaches at Auburn, Coach Pelton, Coach Roof, Coach Chizik, all of them. I felt comfortable there and I think Auburn could be a place I go. My top five now are Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Florida, and Ole Miss. I would like to check out Miami too."

  • Cord Sandberg - 6-2/185 - QB - Bradenton (FL) Manatee - 2013
Sandberg said: "I think I had a good day at quarterback and I learned a lot from Coach Malzahn. I think Coach Malzahn is one of the best QB coaches out there, he really knows what he is talking about. I like everything about Auburn. They have great coaches, great facilities, and I love it a lot. Right now, out of the schools that have offered me, they are number one on my list."

  • Justin Shanks - 6-4/315 - DL - Prattville (AL) Prattville - 2012
Shanks said: "I really do like it at Auburn. I have been there a lot and they are sitting near the top of my list. I really like the environment at Auburn and the people. It is like it is in Prattville. I really like Coach Pelton too, I look at him like a mentor. We talk family, how things are off the field, and I see Auburn being one of my finalists."

  • Leonard Williams - 6-5/260 - DL - Daytona Beach (FL) Mainland - 2012
Williams said: "This was my first time at Auburn and the first thing I noticed was how the coaches made me feel comfortable there. It was like I started a relationship with them as soon as I got there. They have nice facilities and all that, but the thing I like most about Auburn is their coaches. I don't really have favorites right now, but if I had to name five, I would say they are Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, and USC."

All these prospects have offers from the Auburn Tigers and outside of Louis, who is a commitment, all look to be big targets for Gene Chizik and his coaching staff.

Chad Simmons started out with Scout in 2003 covering top talent in Georgia and other areas in the South. He then moved on to another Recruiting Service from 2004-2008 before returning to Scout the first of 2009 to become Southeast Recruiting Manager.
