Auburn Camp: Top 10 Performers

Scout spent Saturday on the Auburn campus evaluating prospects and here are the 10 that stood out the most.

Over 150 prospects were at Auburn on Saturday for the Tigers final camp of 2011 and they had some major talent on campus.

Scout watched the linemen get after it inside the indoor facility and the skill guys show their ability outside.

Here are the 10 prospects that stood out the most.

  • Shaq Beverly - 5-8/192 - CB - Jacksonville (FL) First Coast - 2012
    Recruiting: Committed to Troy.
Quick Hitter: Beverly played a very physical brand of football at Auburn. He pressed well at the line and ran well with the receivers. He looked to be the best cover guy there that day.

  • Austin Golson - 6-6/275 - OT - Prattville (AL) Prattville - 2013
    Recruiting: Committed to Florida State.
Quick Hitter: Golson is a true offensive tackle with the right attitude. He plays with intensity, he is very coachable, and he had the best day of any OL at Auburn.

  • Derwin Gray - 6-5/265 - OT - Washington (DC) Dunbar - 2013
Recruiting: Has offers from Auburn, Michigan State, New Mexico, and Rutgers. Quick Hitter: Gray showed very good feet Saturday. He moved well and he looked a little on the light side. He has a lot of room to fill out physically.

  • O.J. Howard - 6-5/220 - TE - Prattville (AL) Autauga Academy - 2013
    Recruiting: Committed to Alabama.
Quick Hitter: Howard was the top performer for me on this day. He caught everything - I mean everything. He dove for a few balls, made good adjustments, and he has unlimited potential.

  • Joseph Jackson - 6-1/200 - OLB - Jacksonville (FL) First Coast - 2012
    Recruiting: Committed to West Virginia.
Quick Hitter: Jackson was consistently involved in drills and 1on1s and he had a strong showing. He is still a little light at linebacker, but he moved well in space, and his coverage was solid.

  • Jeremy Johnson - 6-5/194 - QB - Montgomery (AL) Carver - 2013
Recruiting: Football and basketball offer from Auburn.
Quick Hitter: Johnson was the top quarterback at Auburn Saturday. He threw the ball with touch and velocity when needed on this day. He can compact his delivery some and work on his footwork, but he will be a sought after QB in 2013.

  • Daniel McMillan - 6-3/220 - LB - Jacksonville (FL) First Coast - 2013
Recruiting: Over 20 offers from schools like Auburn, Florida, Florida State, and Miami.
Quick Hitter: I went into this expecting big things from McMillan and I was not disappointed. As impressive as he is on film, he was that was at Auburn. He moves well, he showed closing speed, and he was looking to learn. He is total package.

  • Robert Nkemdiche - 6-5/264 - DL - Loganville (GA) Grayson - 2013
Recruiting: Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida, and LSU are his top five. Has any offer he wants.
Quick Hitter: Auburn held him out of the 1on1s, but he was very impressive through the drills. He showed explosiveness, great power, and good change of direction. An elite junior.

  • Cord Sandberg - 6-2/180 - QB - Bradenton (FL) Manatee - 2013
Recruiting: Auburn, Cincinnati, Clemson, and others have offered.
Quick Hitter: Sandberg threw a very catchable ball at this camp. He threw with good accuracy and he put it where it needed to be. He can still improve his arm strength and his delivery.

  • Leonard Williams - 6-5/265 - DL - Daytona Beach (FL) Mainland - 2012
Recruiting: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, FSU, and USC are his top five.
Quick Hitter: Williams is an impressive big man. He has the size to play three technique, defensive end, or offensive tackle. He plays light on his feet, he has long arms, and he is athletic.
