"I like the coaches, the facilities and the people are real nice," he said after visiting the defending national champions. "They make you feel like you are at home."
Thomas, who says that he currently is 6-6, 240 pounds, says he has more than 20 scholarship offers, including one from Auburn. He notes that he was impressed with the Tigers when he watched them beat LSU last season and that hasn't changed.
"I think probably Auburn might be for me," he says. "They have got a great coaching staff. I think I can play early."
In addition to Auburn, the rising senior says he likes South Carolina and Auburn, too.
As a junior at Columbia High, he had an impressive athletic year. In football he made 83 tackles with nine sacks. In basketball he notes that he averaged a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds per game.
He notes that Auburn is recruiting him in basketball, too, and would like to try to play both sports in college.
Thomas says he may be ready to make a decision on his college choice this summer. "Probably in a couple of weeks,"?he said.
The defensive end made the trip with his teammate, running back Kenno Loyal, who says he is also interested in the Tigers.
