SEC Baseball Standings Week 8

Both divisions in the SEC appear headed for a photo finish to declare a winner.

With just six games remaining in the regular season, the race for division titles in both the western and eastern division of the Southeastern Conference is wide open thanks to a wild weekend of baseball action. In the west both Mississippi State and Auburn gained ground on division leader LSU with series wins, the Bulldogs getting theirs against LSU. Both Ole Miss and Alabama dropped series this weekend to bunch up the bottom of the division.

In the east the South Carolina Gamecocks have caught fire, sweeping Kentucky to move to 13-11 in conference play, a game and a half ahead of second-place Florida. The surprising series of the weekend came in Athens where the Vanderbilt Commodores likely cost themselves a shot at postseason play when they were swept by the Georgia Bulldogs. Now three games out of the top-eight spots in the league, both Vanderbilt and Tennessee are likely in a race with the Gators for the final spot in the SEC Baseball Tournament.
