Johnson, who is 6-1, 212 pounds, visited the Auburn campus over the weekend with his father and came away leaning heavily to the Tigers after touring the campus and watching Auburn scrimmage.
Johnson is shown at a football camp from this summer.
It didn't take long after that for the linebacker to end recruiting and chose the Tigers over Alabama, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Cal, South Carolina and others.
Johnson said he chose the Tigers because of the family atmosphere and he is excited about the opportunity to play for defensive coordinator Ted Roof, who also coaches the linebackers. Roof was a star linebacker at Central Gwinnett High himself.
"I feel in love with Auburn when I visited the campus for the football camp," he said. "After visited last weekend with my father, I knew Auburn is where I want to go."
He made 152 as a sophomore with 21 1/2 stops for a loss and seven quarterback sacks. He opens his junior season on August 26th vs. Mountain View High.
Johnson said he hasn't been to an Auburn football game. He said he is looking forward to checking out the games in person after hearing a lot of good things about the gameday atmosphere.
"I like the coaching staff and I really like Ted Roof and Coach (Gene) Chizik," the linebacker said. "I like the distance. It is only two hours away from home. Everything is top of the line there."
