Tiger Coaches Announce Football Depth Chart

Auburn football head coach Gene Chizik and his assistants have completed their depth chart for the season opener.

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn football coach Gene Chizik announced the depth chart on Monday for his team's season-opening game vs. Utah State. The Tigers will take on the Aggies on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The Tigers, who posted a 14-0 record on the way to winning the SEC Championship and the BCS Championship, must replace eight starters on offense and eight starters on defense along with field goal kicker Wes Byrum and punter Ryan Shoemaker.

Included the in players the Tigers are replacing are the SEC Offensive Player of the Year, quarterback Cam Newton, and the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, tackle Nick Fairley. Newton won numerous awards including the Heisman Trophy. Fairley won the Lombardi Award as the nation's top lineman.

The depth chart features one true freshman as a starter, center Reese Dismukes. Chizik said to expect 12 to 15 true freshman to see action in game one from his 2011 recruiting class ranked No. 1 by Scout.com.

The Tigers did a rehearsal practice on Sunday night for Saturday's 11 a.m. contest vs. Utah State, which will be making its first ever appearance on Auburn's schedule. The players are off on Monday and will return to practice to continue preparations for the Aggies on Tuesday evening.
