Basketball Prospect Checking Out Tigers

A basketball recruiting report on Tony Barbee's Auburn Tigers team is featured.

Dayton, Ohio--Coach Tony Barbee is expected to entertain a class of 2012 men's basketball prospect with Deontae Hawkins scheduled to visit the Auburn campus this weekend on an official visit.

Deontae Hawkins, a six-foot-eight forward at Dunbar High School, is rated as a three star prospect by Scout.com. He has offers from the University of Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Dayton and Ohio University.

Scout.com recruiting analyst Brian Snow has this analysis of the high school senior. "He is skinny and doesn't exactly seek out contact, but Hawkins can be a face-up power forward who is tough to defend.

"A good mid-range jump shooter, Hawkins also stretches it to the three point line. Not an explosive leaper, but a solid athlete, Hawkins is capable of playing above the rim. He needs to get much stronger, but there is definite potential there."

As a junior for Dunbar High he averaged 16.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game.
