South Carolina at Mississippi State--Both of these teams have problems, but the Bulldogs have more of them. Steve Spurrier has had a hard time winning in Starkville, but I don't see that being the case this year.
Alabama at Ole Miss--Alabama is too strong to lose this game even though the home team has had an extra week to prepare. I don't care if they are playing this game Oxford, Vicksburg, Jackson or wherever, Alabama would win.
Georgia at Vanderbilt--This game could be a little closer than many expect it will be, but I think I think Georgia will win. I also think Vandy's new coaching staff is doing a good job.
Florida at Auburn--I like Auburn in this one because it looks like the game should be about even with the Tigers having the advantage of playing at home.
Although Auburn isn't getting great play at quarterback, Auburn's situation at that position is a lot better for this game than Florida's is with starter John Brantley still out for the Gators. I expect the Tigers to make their fans happy on Saturday night.
In other games around the country:
Michigan at Michigan State--The home team probably has more good football players, but I like Michigan because of quarterback Denard Robinson in this matchup of Top 25 teams. The guy is elusive, creative and consistently makes big plays. Just because you have a big pass rush on him that doesn't mean you are going to put him on the ground.
Baylor at Texas A&M--This should be a good game matching two more ranked teams. This is a difficult one to pick, but I am going to take the Aggies because they are home even though that quarterback at Baylor, Robert Griffin, is really something. He could very well be the best quarterback in the country this year. With Griffin on the field if Texas A&M?isn't at the top of its game, it won't beat Baylor.
Oklahoma State at Texas--The visiting Cowboys have too much firepower and Texas has too much youth plus quarterback problems. Oklahoma State will win on the road.
Colorado at Washington--The Huskies will take this one at home.
Clemson and Maryland--This game could be close, but I am going to pick Clemson to stay unbeaten.
Florida State at Duke--No contest. FSU will get back into the win column this week.
South Florida at Connecticut--Look for the Bulls to bounce back after a bad loss at Pittsburgh two weeks ago.
Arizona State at Oregon--This is a big game in the Pac 12 with both teams unbeaten in league play. Oregon is tough to beat at home, but is expected to play without its star back, LaMichael James, and that is a big factor.
Arizona State's defense has been forcing a lot of turnovers. The Sun Devils have a chance to win, but I am going with the Ducks. I think this will be a real good football game.
Editor's Note: Coach Dye was 5-1 on his SEC picks last week and 18-3 overall. His record for the season is 42-9 for SEC games and 94-23 in all games.
