Callahan Excited About Future At Auburn

Auburn offensive line commitment Shane Callahan talks about his official visit to check out the Tigers.

Parker, Col.—For Auburn commitment Shane Callahan his visit to the Plains for Big Cat Weekend was enough to show him that he wanted to be a Tiger. Following his official visit this past weekend to see Auburn take down Florida he said it only cemented the fact that he made the perfect choice for both he and his family.

"It was fun," the 6-6, 285 Callahan said. "It was my first Auburn game ever and one of the most exciting things I've ever been to. It's the real deal. It was a great experience.

"It exceeded my expectations. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. The Tiger Walk, the eagle flight, everything was awesome. It's just insane. I definitely made the right choice of where to go."

Auburn is a long way from home for Callahan and while that would be something tough for most parents. He said his parents agree with him that he has found the right spot to spend the next four or five years.

"They are just in love with the place," Callahan said. "They really, really love it. That's good for me because I'm going to a place they know I'll be safe. I know I'll be safe. They enjoy it, I enjoy it, it's perfect for everybody in the family."

Hosted by true freshman quarterback Kiehl Frazier on his visit, Callahan said he just felt at home with everyone and especially the guys that are going to be his future teammates.

"I hung out with Kiehl Frazier," Callahan said. "It was really cool to see him play a lot. He's a really nice kid. He's only a year older than me. It doesn't seem like it at first, but then you realize these kids are only a couple of years older than you. I got along great with the players last night and that's good knowing I'll be here in a couple of months."

Planning to be in Auburn in January and to go through spring practice, Callahan said that the fact that the Tigers have a pair of senior starters at offensive tackle is exciting for him. "It's huge because I really have a chance to come in and compete and be an early contributor," he adds. "That's exciting."

With so many fellow commitments in Auburn for the game and weekend Callahan said that made the trip special. Throw in the fact that the Tigers defeated Florida with so many young guys on both sides of the football and he said it's just fun to think about the future of the program.

"It's really fun. You know you're going to be together for four or five years. You start to get along because you have so much in common that you don't realize at first. It's just exciting to hang out with them.

"I'm extremely excited. Everyone is going to get experience and it gives me a chance to contribute. This team is really going to be amazing in a few years. It's exciting."
