Sunshine Back Enjoys Return Visit to Auburn

Boone High School running back A.J. Turman (5-11, 200) discusses his return visit to Auburn and his overall recruiting picture.

Orlando, Fla. – One of the Sunshine State's top running back prospects for the class of 2013, A.J. Turman, has seen a couple of prime-time college football games so far this season.

On Sept. 18 he was in Tallahassee for the big showdown between the Seminoles and Oklahoma, a 23-13 victory for the Sooners. Just recently he visited Auburn for its big recruiting weekend and big win over Florida.

"It was nice," Turman said. "I've never been to a game in Auburn before. I got to see Coach (Chizik) and everything, got to be close up on the field, see how it goes and see how it works. It was loud. It's a nice stadium, it was a big crowd. It reminded me of the FSU-Oklahoma game."

Turman visited Auburn for a one-day camp during the summer and named Auburn his leader at the time. But for now the 2013 running back has the Tigers in his top 5.

"Auburn is in my top 5," he explained. "Auburn, Alabama, Florida, FSU, Miami."

As far as offers, he added, "Just FSU."

If Florida State has offered this early in the process, that means he'll likely have dozens of offers by February 2013.

Turman's recent visit to Auburn was with his mother, father and some friends, and they got to do a little more than just watch the game.

"I got to Auburn on Friday and went to the school early, tailgated with some people," Turman said. "I talked to Coach (Curtis) Luper a little bit before (the game) just to say, ‘What's up' and he was glad I came.

"It's a nice campus," Turman added. "Out of all of the schools it's one of the best looking campuses I've been to."

Turman doesn't have a set timetable for making a college decision. "Probably at the end of this year or next year," he explained. "There's no hurry."
