Three Official Visitors Highlight Weekend

A five-star offensive tackle, another five-star defensive end, and one of Alabama's top defensive players highlight the list of expected visitors this weekend.

Auburn, Ala.—It will be another important recruiting weekend for Coach Gene Chizik's Auburn Tigers (5-3) as they face off against the Ole Miss Rebels (2-5) in a key SEC Western Division battle.

With the offensive line a definite focus for the 2012 class and Auburn expecting to sign at least six up front, getting an official visit from five-star tackle Avery Young from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. is big for the Tigers.

Rated the number four offensive tackle in the country by, Young is a 6-6, 286 offensive tackle who has offers from across the nation. He is expected in this weekend and will likely visit Florida, Georgia and Oklahoma as well with Alabama and Virginia Tech also possibilities.

At defensive end talented Channing Ward from Aberdeen, Miss. is one of the top pass rushers in the country for the 2012 class. Rated a five-star prospect and the number seven defensive end in the country, he has offers from all over and is still wide open.

Linebacker is another point of emphasis as well and one of Auburn's top targets is expected to take his official visit this weekend to the Plains. A frequent visitor over the last two years, Leeds' standout Javiie Mitchell is a 6-1, 200-pounder who has been forced to play a number of different positions for the Green Wave in his career.

Lining up at defensive end as a junior and mostly defensive tackle and even some noseguard as a senior, he'll get to stand up and use his speed on the next level at the linebacker position.

Having already visited Mississippi State officially last two weeks ago, Mitchell is also looking at Tennessee, Alabama, Florida State and Georgia at the moment.

A top player who has already made his decision to be an Auburn Tiger, defensive tackle Tyler Nero is expected in for an unofficial visit this weekend after Escambia County puts the wraps on its season Friday night. The four-star player had a solid year playing alongside Southern Miss commitment Dalvin Craft up front.

Other 2012 prospects expected in for unofficial visits include 6-1, 280 offensive lineman Travis Hayes from Jackson, 6-3, 257 defensive lineman Andrew Wiggins from Chiles High in Tallahassee, Fla., 6-5, 255 offensive lineman and Southern Miss commitment Robert Leff from Fairhope as well as 6-1, 297 teammate Kyron Samuels, 6-4, 255 defensive lineman Jeremy Boyd from Hoover, 6-5, 265 offensive lineman Justin Forehand from Pelham, 6-3, 295 Luke Lawrence from Hillcrest High in Tuscaloosa, 6-7, 250 offensive tackle Jylan Ware from Valley, and 6-3, 290 offensive lineman Fred Zerblis from Grayson High in Loganville, Ga.

Already with an offer from Auburn in both football and basketball, 6-5 quarterback Jeremy Johnson from Carver High in Montgomery is expected to take an unofficial visit for Saturday's game as well. He is having a big junior year for the Wolves and will be one of the top quarterback prospects in the South next year.

Other 2013 prospects expected in for Saturday's game include 6-4, 295 offensive lineman Brett Dockery from Farragut High in Knoxville, Tenn., 6-4 offensive tackle Jordan Harris from Dutchtown High in Hampton, Ga., 6-0, 260 lineman Jared Holloway from St. Paul's in Mobile, 6-3, 280 Leander Palmer from Sandalwood High in Jacksonville, Fla., 6-3, 280 offensive lineman Josh Cardiello from Buford (Ga.) High, 6-5, 215 athlete Quay Boyd from Lafayette High, and 6-2 ½, 215 defensive end Brian Whitaker from Westside High in Macon, Ga. In addition 6-2, 200 pound 2014 athlete Rashaan Evans is also expected in for an unofficial visit. Evans is the son of former Auburn running back Alan Evans.
