Racean Thomas highlights versus Carrollton, Ga., HIgh School:
Oxford, Ala. – One of the top high school football players in the state of Alabama this season was Oxford's sophomore running back Racean Thomas.
A transfer from Weaver High School, the 5-11, 185-pound running back was gashing teams for chunks of yards by the end of the season. Oxford beat four solid teams in a row at season's end--Central of Phenix City, Spain Park, Northridge and Mountain Brook--and nearly beat Hoover in the 6A state playoff semi-finals.
Despite scoring on a 33-yard reception, a nine-yard and a seven-yard run, Hoover coach Josh Niblett said slowing down Thomas was one of the keys to beating Oxford two weeks ago to advance to the finals.
"We did a great job of containing him for the most part," Niblett said. "He's been gashing people for 250 yards. I thought we did a good job of containing him."
