Wide Receiver Jaquay Williams Signs With AU

The top-ranked wide receiver prospect in Georgia has signed scholarship papers.

Tyrone, Ga.--Jaquay Williams, a four-star prospect from Sandy Creek High School has signed scholarship papers to play for the Auburn Tigers.

Position/Scout Ranking: Jaquay Williams, 6-4, 191, Sandy Creek High, four star, ranked as the No. 16 wide receiver prospect in the country.

Auburn's Main Competition: With the departure of offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, Williams responded to overtures from Georgia, taking an official visit to Athens and scheduling a signing day announcement where he would pick between the Tigers and Bulldogs. In the end, Williams reconfirmed the commitment he made to Auburn in June.

Jaquay Williams played in the Semper Fi All-American game in Phoenix. He caught a touchdown pass in the game.

Why Auburn Signed Him: Williams is a playmaker at the wide receiver position. His ability to stretch the field with his speed and win jump balls with his long arms and height should give him the opportunity to contribute early and often for the Tigers, who needed to sign a deep threat at wide receiver.

Worth Noting: As a senior at Sandy Creek, Williams caught 47 passes for 968 yards and 10 TDs and had one kickoff return for a score.
