Auburn Signee Notes: QB Zeke Pike

Auburn signee Zeke Pike, a big quarterback from Kentucky, got a head start on his college experience.

Auburn, Ala.--Zeke Pike, from Dixie Heights High in Ft. Mitchell, Ky., is one of the early enrollees in Auburn's 2012 football signee class.

Position/Scout Ranking: Zeke Pike, 6-6, 225, four stars, ranked as the No. 16 quarterback prospect in the country.

Auburn's Main Competition: With more than 22 offers from colleges across the country, Pike narrowed his choices down to Auburn, Clemson, Michigan, Arkansas, Tennessee, Purdue and North Carolina before committing to the Tigers in April. He enrolled in classes at Auburn in January after graduating early from high school.

Zeke Pike will compete for playing time in spring practice.

Why Auburn Signed Him: Although raw, Pike has the arm strength to excel at the collegiate level and the size, speed and escapability to frustrate defenses with his running and scrambling ability.

Worth Noting: Pike, the son of former Buffalo Bills player Mark Pike, rushed for 730 yards and 16 touchdowns and passed for 1,964 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior at Dixie Heights. He was also named one of the Elite 11 quarterbacks in the nation.
