5-Star Avery Young In the House for Tigers

Five-star offensive tackle Avery Young signed his Letter of Intent on Wednesday to play for the Auburn Tigers.

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.—One of the top offensive tackle prospects in the country made it official on Wednesday when he signed with the Auburn Tigers and Coach Gene Chizik. Five-star Avery Young has had Auburn at or near the top of his list since taking an official visit during the season, but he finished off the decision at a ceremony on Wednesday by signing with the Tigers.

An Under Armour All-American, the 6-5, 295 Young narrowed his list down to Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Miami before choosing Chizik's program. The family atmosphere is something that Young talked about following his official visit for the Florida game and in the end that proved to be one of the deciding factors for him.

Young is the cousin of Auburn freshman tight end Brandon Fulse and he said that was huge in Auburn's favor. Following his visit in October he talked about what having Fulse means for the Tigers in the decision-making process.

"It's real big because I know that being my cousin here, he wouldn't steer me in the wrong direction," Young said. "He was just telling me how everything worked around here so I got it from the coaches and a family member and that helped.

"Auburn has great people," he added. "It's a great area with a little city and a little country, and I'm a country boy. It's real nice."
