Junior Wide Receiver Picks Up Offer From AU

Isaiah Jones from Milton, Fla., High talks about the Auburn Tigers.

Milton, Fla.--Isaiah Jones, who visited the campus for Auburn's second junior day of 2012 in February, returned on Wednesday to spend more time with the football coaches and the big receiver now has a scholarship offer from the Tigers.

A football and basketball standout at Milton High School, Auburn is recruiting the 6-4, 195-pound junior as a wide receiver.

Jones noted that he had never been to Auburn prior to his visit in February. He liked it enough to not wait long between trips to the Plains.

"I like the coaches at Auburn and how they treat me," he said. "I like the atmosphere there around the football team. It is like a family."

A prospect who is starting to garner more attention, the 16-year-old wide receiver noted that he is also being recruited by South Carolina, Duke, Florida State and other colleges including Arkansas and Georgia, a pair of SEC programs that have offered scholarships.

Jones just finished his basketball season and noted that went well. "I play forward in basketball,"?he said. "I averaged 11 points and eight rebounds per game."

This spring he is adding another sport to his schedule. "I just starting running track this year," he pointed out. "I am going to run the 4x100 and the 400."

The junior said he isn't sure how fast he will be able to run in either event, but noted he has been clocked at 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash as part of his football training.

The recruiting attention for Jones is coming on the football field playing for Milton, which has had strong teams in the past. Asked how strong his team will be this fall, the junior said, "We are getting back to where we were."
