Talented Lefty QB Looking At Auburn And Others

Deerfield Beach, Fla.--Brent Schaeffer was a one man wrecking crew on offense last season for a 9-2 Deerfield Beach High School football team. He threw for 2,574 yards and 31 touchdowns and he added 548 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground from his quarterback position.

The lefty has been equally impressive in his camp tours this spring and summer and he has earned himself a multitude of scholarship offers.

"I've been to the Rutgers camp that they had in Florida," Schaeffer says. "I went to the Nike Camp in Miami where I was named top quarterback, and I just got back from the Auburn camp. I didn't test at the Nike Camp, because I got there late, but I ran a 4.5 on the track at Auburn on Saturday.

"I think I'm going to get to some more camps this summer, but I'm not sure which ones yet," Schaeffer adds. "I've gotten a bunch of offers, but the teams that have offered that I'm most interested in are Auburn, Iowa, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Michigan, Oklahoma, N.C. State, and Virginia Tech."

When asked if he was interested in some of the in-state schools, Schaeffer says that he had minimal interest in staying close to home. "UCF, Florida, and USF have all offered, but I want to leave the state. Everyone on my list is pretty even right now."
