Getting ready for the renovations that will be done in the concourse areas of Jordan-Hare Stadium, the endzones have been bricked to match the outer area of the recruiting lounge and neighboring Plainsman Park. Here is a view from midfield towards the South endzone.
Here is a close-up view of the brick work. Just in front is a concrete walkway that should help keep the area cleaner for walking traffic before, during and after football games.
Following a successful baseball season that was filled with rainy game after rainy game, the surface of Plainsman Park was removed and will be replaced by Tifsport, a hybrid bermuda surface designed to withstand the punishment dished out by athletes.
Here work vehicles wait until the field dries up some before going back to work. They will level the outfield, which was much lower in right field than in left, before planting grass to grow back on the surface of Plainsman Park.
On the heels of a successful outdoor track season that saw his teams finish second (men) and ninth (women) in the country, Coach Ralph Spry is getting ready for a new facility for his program. Ground has been broken just behind the soccer stadium and intramural fields for the new track. The locker rooms, coaches offices, etc. will be installed later, but the track should be ready for the spring season next year.
The Jane B. Moore Softball Complex has been completed and is now one of the finest facilities in the South. Here is a shot of the front entrace to the stadium, which is next to the intramural fields on the Auburn campus.
