2014 Prospect Enjoys Auburn Trip

Jon Michael Edwards discusses his Auburn A-Day experience and early recruiting.

Montgomery, Ala.—While Jeremy Johnson is getting plenty of attention this spring heading into the 2012 season for the Carver Wolverines, junior defensive end Jon Michael Edwards will be a name to keep an eye on as well.

A physical player that has the quickness and agility to make plays sideline to sideline, Edwards is a 6-4, 230-pounder with two years left to play before getting to college. Even though he's a long way from making a college decision, Edwards has already started thinking about his future.

On Saturday he was in Auburn with Johnson and fellow junior teammate Shaun Hamilton to check out the Tigers in the A-Day Game at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Having the opportunity to see the team in action and also talk with the coaches, Edwards said it was a good day for him.

"I liked the visit," Edwards said. "I met a few new people. I just liked watching the game and the sportsmanship. I talked to Coach (Mike) Pelton and Gene Chizik."

Already a big player that was a standout at one of Auburn's summer camps last year, Edwards said Pelton gave him some tips to help him improve his game.

"Coach Pelton told me to work on some things and come to the campus," Edwards said. "He told me to get stronger and work hard in the weight room."

Still waiting on his first offer, Edwards said he is getting some early interest from both Auburn and Georgia. After seeing the Tigers in person and getting to know more about them, Edwards said at the moment they are on top for him.

"Auburn is my number one favorite," Edwards said. "I just like it. It feels like family. I feel close. I just love it."
