Golfers 3rd At SEC Men's Tournament

A report on the Auburn men's golf team is featured after one round at the SEC Championship.

Sea Island, Ga.--After the first of three rounds at the SEC Men's Golf Tournament, the Auburn Tigers are in third place, five shots off the pace.

Auburn finished with a three-under-par total of 277 on the Seaside Course at the Sea Island Golf Club on Friday. Alabama is in first at 272, one shot ahead of Georgia. Florida is in fourth, six shots behind the Tigers.

Will McCurdy and Michael Johnson led Auburn with rounds of two-under-par 68, which is seventh individually. Niclas Carlson shot a 70 while Blayne Barber and Dominic Bozzelli each finished at 71.

McCurdy played bogey-free golf while Johnson was all over the scorecard with seven birdies, seven pars, three bogeys and one double bogey.

"We started off well but weren't able to finish the last seven to eight holes," Auburn coach Nick Clinard said. "All of the guys continued to fight through their rounds, and hopefully we will finish stronger on Saturday. Will and Michael both played well in leading us
