Shaun Hamilton talks ACC offer

Shaun Hamilton, linebacker from Carver High School in Montgomery, Ala., is receiving a lot of attention after a great sophomore season. Hamilton collected his first BCS offer from a school known for great NFL linebackers. The 2014 prospect was excited to learn the news.

"I received an offer from Miami," said Shaun Hamilton. "My coach told me about the offer around lunch time last Friday. They said Miami was really impressed with me and wanted to offer. The linebackers coach, Michael Barrow, came out two weeks ago.

"He saw my film and wants me to come down to Miami. He told me he played 13 years in the NFL. He knows what it takes to be in the NFL.

"I was amazed knowing how many players they have put in the NFL with guys like Ray Lewis and Jonathan Vilma. They are a great school to attend. It really kind of surprised me. They really weren't on my board."

Hamilton was surprised with the offer from the Hurricanes. Several other schools are showing heavy interest. He has a few favorites.

"I thought Auburn was going to be my first," he said. "Miami came out of nowhere. Auburn, Georgia Tech, LSU, Wake Forest and Mississippi State are showing interest. I am closing in real soon on an offer from Georgia Tech and Wake Forest.

"Right now Auburn was leading the way before the Miami offer, but after doing some research Miami has passed Auburn. Auburn still has my attention even though Miami is at the top. I plan on camping at Auburn, Miami, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State."

The 6-foot-1, 222-pound prospect recorded 123 tackles last season, 16 tackles for loss and two sacks.

"I feel like my biggest strengths are I am a great tackler," Hamilton said. "I am smart. I have a nose for the football. I want to work on hit power. I want to get a little bit more explosive."
