The four-star defensive end from Milton High in Alpharetta, Ga., officially committed to Auburn on March 24, which was Junior Day.
"I have a long checklist of things I am looking for in a college and Auburn meets all of them," Lawson said. "My parents want me to take more visits so I will do that, but Auburn is where I want to go."
Although Lawson is already verbally committed to Auburn, he told Inside the Auburn Tigers he's still excited about visiting Auburn this weekend and wants to "have fun."
After finishing his junior season with 87 total tackles, 31 tackles for loss and 15 sacks, Lawson said he's trying to improve his conditioning more than anything for his senior year.
Known for his quickness and aggressive style of play, Lawson is said to fit in perfectly with Auburn's new defensive strategy, according to defensive line coach Mike Pelton.
"Coach Pelton told me with their new defensive system that I am exactly the type of player they are looking for," Lawson said. "They are looking for aggressive linemen who can attack the offense and create big plays for the defense."
Lawson has also been invited and will play in the Under Armour All-America Game this year.
