Offensive Line Prospect Checks Out the Tigers

Offensive guard Austin Droogsma talks about his first trip to Auburn for Big Cat Weekend.

Gulf Breeze, Fla.-- After taking part in Auburn's fourth-annual Big Cat Weekend on Saturday, three-star offensive guard Austin Droogsma left his first visit to the Plains impressed with what he saw.

"It was just a great day, got to see the whole campus," said Droogsma, who is rated the No.45 offensive guard in the nation by Scout.com. "I was really surprised with how compact everything was, and I love that. That smaller campus, it was really awesome.

"Everything about the whole family and All-in system—in my school we run that same kind of thing," he added. ‘We've got the All-In program down there. I love the family atmosphere they've got there, and all the academic help they have for the players is so amazing. It's really awesome here. I love it."

The Gulf Breeze, Fla., native got a chance to talk with Auburn coaches throughout the day, including wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor and offensive line coach Jeff Grimes.

"I loved talking with Troop because he's such a character and he's a great guy," said Droogsma. "Coach Grimes, there's few that can even parallel him. He's a great coach. He produces monsters. Love being around him."

The 6-4, 310-pound prospect has offers from Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Memphis and South Florida, but is still waiting on one from Auburn.

"They would definitely be in it if they made a move," he said. "I would definitely say they'd be in it for sure."

Droogsma said he doesn't have a timeline to make a decision, but that he'd probably know by the end of his senior season where he wants to attend.

Until then, Droogsma said he plans to take more visits, including a return trip to Auburn this summer for a camp.
