QB Deshaun Watson Profile
Watson, then a rising sophomore, picked up the
offer after an impressive showing at the Dabo Swinney Football Camp.
Twelve months later, he returned for the annual camp. With him were teammates Fred Payne, Caleb Hyman and Devan Stringer.
"It was nice. It was fun. I enjoyed the three days and working out with [Morris]. Some of my teammates enjoyed the visit. We had a great time up there," Watson told CUTigers.
The future four-star quarterback enjoyed working with his future coach.
"It was pretty cool. I went first in all the drills, because I knew what to do," Watson said. "[Morris] really pushed me. He told me I didn't have anything to show off. He just wanted me to work out real good. It was really nice."
Morris helped Watson quicken his footwork and release.
"He said I did pretty well. On the days I worked out, I did well," Watson said.
Heading into the camp, Watson was Clemson's only commitment in the 2014 class. Before the week ended, three others joined him.
"It was great. I knew we were going to get some good commits and good players, but I was kind of surprised that we got as many as we did in both 2013 and 2014," he said. "I knew someone was going to commit to both classes. I'm excited about it and ready to get some more as we go on."
As a sophomore, Watson threw for 3,163 yards and 41 touchdowns and had 1,086 yards rushing with 15 scores.
As a freshman, he threw for over 2,500 yards with 25 touchdown passes and rushed for more than 700 yards with five scores.
