Four-Star Offensive Lineman Takes In Tigers

Four-star OL Tyrone Crowder talks about his trip to Auburn and what he likes about the Tigers.

Auburn, Ala.—Auburn is looking for help on the interior offensive line in the 2013 class and one of the top targets at that spot was on campus Saturday to check out the Tigers. Big Tyrone Crowder from Richmond Senior High is a four-star prospect and the number three offensive guard in the country by Taking in the sights on the Plains beginning Friday night after checking out Georgia, he said there's plenty to like about Gene Chizik's program.

"It went great," Crowder said. "They took me on a tour around the whole campus. I got to talk to Coach (Gene) Chizik and Coach (Jeff) Grimes. It was great. I had a teammate at the camp and got to watch him. He did great."

Making his first trip to Auburn, Crowder said he enjoyed getting to see the campus and facilities. He said he also liked the coaches and the atmosphere they create around the program.

"It's a great program," Crowder said. "I like what they are doing here. I had fun. It was my first time there. it made a great impression. Coach Chizik is probably one of the greatest coaches I have talked to in recruiting."

With Auburn's need for help on the interior offensive line it's no surprise that Crowder spent plenty of time hanging out with the Tigers' offensive line coach Jeff Grimes. Crowder said that was a fun thing because both Grimes and Chizik never really talked about recruiting or making a decision, but more about making sure he felt at home.

"He just told me to take the visit in and if I had any questions feel free to ask him," Crowder said. "He pretty much told me to take my time making my decision and that I don't need to rush it."

Now that he's seen Auburn and had a chance to see how it measures up with some of the others he's visited, Crowder said the Tigers have plenty of things to like and will have a strong chance to be there at the end for him.

"Really it was just the whole program," Crowder said. "It was my first time there and I didn't really have anything to compare it to. Everything was great.

"I plan on making a decision soon," he added. "That could always change. I would like to do it before my senior season."

With 16 offers at the moment and all still in the mix, Crowder said that when the time comes to make his decision he hopes to have things narrowed down to a top five. When that happens he said the Tigers could be right in the mix with Clemson and Georgia also having a good chance to be in that group.

"I really haven't narrowed it down yet," Crowder said. "I'll probably do that after I get back home and talk to my brother. I'll narrow it down soon to probably five. I have 16 offers now so I'm going to narrow it down. There are some that I know won't make it.

"Auburn has a great chance."
