The Opening: A.J. Jackson

Lovejoy (Ga.) tight end A.J. Jackson is a good looking prospect and had a solid week of competition at The Opening a few weeks ago.

A.J. Jackson has a massive frame and looks all of the 6-5, 240 pounds he's currently listed at. Jackson played for the championship winning Super Bad squad and caught the ball well forming some good chemistry with future Alabama quarterback Cooper Bateman.

"I liked that Bama boy a lot," Jackson said. "I had a great time out there, loved the competition, it was the best of the best and it was exactly what I thought it would be.

"Overall, I was happy with my performance, I thought I did well. Our team won, we had some great players and coaches and it was a just a fun overall experience, the whole trip was great for me."

On the recruiting front, Jackson committed last May to Auburn and is still very solid with Tigers. The big tight end did say he would like to check out a couple of schools for official visits.

"I'm solid with Auburn but I want to visit UCLA and Florida State," Jackson said. "UCLA is a good program, Eddie Printz is committed there and we're friends and I've never really been out to the West Coast before except when I was in Oregon for The Opening.

"Florida State always has a great program, where I'm from, everyone is always interested in the Noles. I'm still going to Auburn though, Tiger fans have nothing to worry about, that's my school and I'm excited to be a Tiger."

Jackson listed several reasons why he committed early to Auburn.

"I just had the best time there, I got that special feeling on campus," Jackson said. "I love the program and the coaching staff. They got a new OC and they plan to use the tight end a lot. I just think overall, it was the best fit for me, not just football wise but academically, socially, in all areas."
