2014 LB Has A Pair Of Tigers At The Top

Class of 2014 linebacker prospect Shaun Hamilton talks his favorites, what he likes about Auburn and more in this football recruiting report.

Montgomery, Ala.--An outstanding linebacker prospect for the 2014 recruiting class, talented junior Shaun Hamilton has had a busy summer preparing for the upcoming season for the Carver Wolverines.

In addition to working out and running to get in top shape, he's also been hitting the recruiting trail hard with visits to many top programs around the Southeast.

Up to nine scolarship offers at the moment with the latest three coming from Auburn, Clemson and Ole Miss, Hamilton said it has been a little crazy getting so much attention so early in the process. Already very familiar with the Auburn program after taking multiple visits to the Plains, he said getting the word from the Tigers about an offer was very big for him.

"I was real excited because I grew up an Auburn fan," Hamilton tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "It's only 45 minutes down the road. I have just always dreamed of playing for Auburn so it was an exciting moment for me."

Planning to visit Auburn once again on Wednesday, he said another big thing the program has going for it is a commitment at quarterback from four-star Jeremy Johnson. A teammate and close friend, Hamilton said having Johnson on board helps in a lot of ways as do his multiple visits to Auburn.

"That's a huge boost for Auburn actually," Hamilton said. "I want to go to a school where my friends and teammates are going to.

"The visits have helped a lot," he added. "It's only 45 minutes down the road so I can always go down there and chill with the coaches. I get to see what kind of defensive schemes they run and watch film. I get a good feel for what it would mean to be a football player at Auburn."

With Auburn as one of his favorites at the moment, Hamilton is also looking strongly at another group of Tigers with Clemson the other team at the top. Taking a recent trip to check out Dabo Swinney's program, he said he enjoyed the experience getting to see Clemson.

"I really liked Clemson," Hamilton said. "They really showed me a good time. They have a good coaching staff with Coach Swinney."

Along with visiting Clemson he was also at Ole Miss last Friday. He said he plans to visit Tennessee as well next week after taking another trip to Auburn on Wednesday.
