Washington will attend LSU/Bama

Four-star junior TE Jacory Washington (Westlake) pulled in offers from both LSU and Alabama during the summer, and he'll be in Baton Rouge this weekend to watch the two SEC powers collide...

Jacory Washington is ready for Saturday's festivities.

"It's the biggest game of the year," he said of LSU/Alabama. "Everybody is talking about it. I want to see the big-game atmosphere; see what the environment is like.

"I've been talking to Coach (Steve) Ensminger and Coach (Adam) Henry from LSU, and Coach (Burton) Burns from Alabama. They all tell me to keep getting bigger, keep working hard, and that I'll be an Elephant or a Tiger one day."

Washington (6-5, 215) has positive things to say about each program.

"Those coaches are real good people," he began. "Alabama showed me love when I visited (during the summer), and LSU takes care of me when I visit for their games."

Washington and his teammates at Class 3A Westlake are 5-3 this season. The Rams are looking to break a two-game losing streak this week vs. the Crowley Gents.

"We want to bounce back against Crowley," said Washington, whose offer sheet also includes Texas A&M, UCLA, San Diego State, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Illinois, Indiana, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Washington and the in-state Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette.

It's imperative for Westlake to avoid the upset bug this week as teams jockey for playoff position.

Louisiana's postseason brackets are drawn based on power ratings; a loss to 2-7 Crowley would almost certainly put Westlake on the road in the first round.

Washington is ranked as the nation's No. 3 TE in the 2014 class. He hopes that Hawaii, which offered Louisiana 2014 CB Daniel Lewis last week, will be next to pull the trigger.
