Jacory Washington made it known that he wanted an offer from Hawaii, that's exactly what happened earlier this week.

When Washington noticed that another Louisiana 2014 prospect - NISH cornerback Daniel Lewis - nabbed an offer from Hawaii last week, he put the wheels in motion to make it happen for himself.

After speaking with Lewis, Washington was able to contact the Hawaii staff.

"I talked to the DBs coach (Daronte' Jones) first," the nation's third-ranked junior tight end said. "He asked me if going away from home would be a problem for me, and I told him, 'No.'

"Then I talked to the tight ends coach (and recruiting coordinator), Philip Rauscher. He described Hawaii's pro-style offense and mentioned that a good quarterback will be on the team when I get there.

"I talked to Coach (Norm) Chow after that; he said they can use me. He said Hawaii likes big tight ends who can also play wide receiver. He said I could get out there on Saturday for them (laughter)."

The Hawaii staff inquired as to what piqued Washington's interest.

"I told the coaches that I'm open to getting away from home in college and trying something different," he said. "Their coaches said, 'That's what we're talking about!'

"It's a blessing to get another offer. I'm open. When it comes time to make a decision and pick a school, I'm going to sit down with my family and discuss it and pray about it."
