"It's been wonderful. It's my first time in Houston and everyone has been wonderful. Just talking with the guys, seeing what it's like where they are from, has been a great experience. I think it's cool to meet new people," he said.
Mixon is one of three Missouri commits playing in Sunday's game. The experience has provided an opportunity for him to meet both quarterback Trent Hosick and athlete Chase Abbington prior to moving to campus.
"It's been really good spending time with those guys. Once we get up there, I'll know some people, so that will help a lot. It's a great experience for us to get closer. You never know, when we get up there we could even end up roommates or something. I'm ready for something that's going to be great," he said.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound prospect recently committed to the Tigers' program and looks forward to joining Missouri's line, where he'll play end.
"They have a pretty good defense. They run a 4-3 scheme and they do a lot of twists and utilize their defensive ends. I need to work on my pass rush a little bit, but I think I'm pretty good at my run stopping," he said.
Though he's not sure what will happen once he arrives on campus in regard to playing time, Mixon has a goal for next season.
"They haven't really talked to me about redshirting or anything yet, but my goal is to play as a true freshman," he said.
