Not only has new Arkansas head football coach Bret Bielema and his staff done a great job already with the 2013 class, they've got a jump on landing 2014 pledges.
The Razorbacks have already gotten commitments from El Dorado defensive tackle Bijhon Jackson (6-2, 320) and North Little Rock tailback Juan Day (6-1, 205).
They are working hard to land the state's top-ranked player - Springdale Har-Ber defensive tackle Josh Frazier (6-3, 330).
Frazier and his mom got a chance to visit with Bielema and his new staff on Sunday, Jan. 13 and both came away impressed.
"If it was up to my mom I would go ahead and commit now," Frazier said. "And I was really impressed with everything they had to say. I really love Coach Bielema and his staff. But I want to see how the season works out before I go ahead and commit."
Frazier, who had 65 tackles and 3.5 sacks this season, already has offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Arkansas State and Notre Dame with a lot of other elite schools showing interest.
"I had a chance to spend about four hours with Coach Bielema and his coaches," Frazier said. "I was so impressed with what they had to say and where they are trying to take the program."
Frazier, just back from competing at the US Amy All American Combine, made it clear that there was a big difference in how former Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino and Bielema and the new staff recruit.
"There was a big difference in how the old staff and the new staff are trying to recruit me," Frazier. "Coach Petrino and the old staff, well, they were trying to blow smoke up my butt and tell me I am the greatest player ever.
"But Coach B and his staff really impressed me and my mom by telling me that I was a very good player and they would love to have me, but that I was going to have to earn my spot," Frazier said. "My mom really liked what they had to say to me. They were real."
