South: Five-star Watch

Some of the top prospects in the country still have official visits to take and big decisions to make with less than three weeks before Signing Day. Get the latest on the uncommitted five-stars out of the south here.

Scout named 15 prospects out of the south as five-stars in 2013 and over half of them remain uncommitted.

Scout takes a look at that group and offers the latest on each elite prospect.

Robert Nkemdiche | No. 1 | DE | Grayson (Ga.)
Scheduled Visits: Florida (1/19), Ole Miss (1/26), and LSU (2/2)
Decision Timeline: Signing Day
The Skinny: Florida has come on over the recent month and they may have exceeded expectations by landing an official visit. That is all you can hope for this late in the process. LSU and Ole Miss were recently named his favorites, but Scout still feels Ole Miss is in the driver's seat here as they have been for months.

Reuben Foster | No. 2 | ILB | Auburn (Ala.)
Scheduled Visits: Alabama (1/19) and Georgia (1/26)
Decision Timeline: Signing Day
The Skinny: Scout feels Foster will stay in the south despite the high praise for Washington after his official visit this past weekend. He has been committed to Alabama and Auburn and he could go back to either. For now, Scout gives Auburn a slight edge over Georgia with Alabama rounding out the top three.

Laremy Tunsil | No. 7 | OT | Columbia (Fla.)
Scheduled Visits: Georgia (1/19), Ole Miss (1/26), and Florida State (2/2)
Decision Timeline: Signing Day
The Skinny: On the outside, this has been a real battle between Alabama and Georgia for the past six plus months, but Florida State is the darkhorse here. Ole Miss will get a visit as well, but it likely comes down to Alabama, FSU, and Georgia. There has been on and off chatter about Alabama and Georgia leading, but one thing is for certain, this one will go down to the wire.

Montravius Adams | No. 11 | DE | Dooly County (Ga.)
Scheduled Visits: Alabama (1/19)and Georgia (1/26)
Decision Timeline: Signing Day
The Skinny: Two visits are scheduled and we like Auburn's chances of getting the final one early in February at this time. Clemson offered him first, Clemson had him on campus last weekend, and we believe Clemson is on top with 20 days to go. Florida has already had him on campus and they are in the mix as are Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia.

Matthew Thomas | No. 13 | OLB | Washington (Fla.)
Scheduled Visits: USC (1/19), Florida State (1/25) and Georgia (2/2)
Decision Timeline: Signing Day
The Skinny: He has visited Alabama and they made a nice impression and he will trip to USC this weekend, then possibly Georgia early in February, but this one is shaping up to be an in-state battle between Florida State and Miami. Some feel FSU has the edge and others think Miami has made a big push in recent weeks. In the end, Scout feels he stays in state and signs with FSU or UM.

Alex Collins | No. 17 | RB | South Plantation (Fla.)
Scheduled Visits: Miami (1/19) and Arkansas (1/26)
Decision Timeline: Late January-Early February
The Skinny: It could come down to these final two official visits for Collins. He has visited Florida, Florida State, and Wisconsin, but Arkansas and Miami look to be leading the way. Collins is a former UM commitment and they are in the mix, but Arkansas is giving them all they can handle. He liked Wisconsin when Bret Bielema was the head coach and he is now at Arkansas.

Vonn Bell | No. 25 | S | Ridgeland (Ga.)
Scheduled Visits: Alabama (1/19) and Tennessee (1/26)
Decision Timeline: Signing Day
The Skinny: The visit to Ohio State is behind him and it was a good one. They are considered one of his top two with Alabama being the other one. Tennessee was his childhood favorite, but their chances have faded over the last few months. Alabama and Ohio State will battle this one out. There has been a lot of chatter that Alabama may have grabbed the lead earlier this week after Nick Saban visited Bell.

Antonio Conner | No. 31 | S | South Panola (Miss.)
Scheduled Visits: Auburn (1/19), Ole Miss (1/26), and Mississippi State (2/2)
Decision Timeline: Signing Day
The Skinny: Conner is from South Panola, so that automatically makes people think Ole Miss has the edge immediately. Not too many top prospects in recent years have chosen other schools and Scout likes the Rebels chances with Conner in 2013. Alabama may have given him something to think about though. Alabama is a legit contender and Auburn could be after this weekend, but for now, we only see Alabama as a contender to Ole Miss.
