Coach Flo's Tigers Continue Their Slump

Auburn's shooting woes resulted in a road loss for the women's basketball team.

Tuscaloosa, Ala.--The slumping Auburn women's basketball team lost its fourth consecutive game, dropping a 61-51 SEC road contest to Alabama on Thursday night.

Both teams struggled with their shooting. A big factor in the game was that Auburn finished 0-10 on three-point attempts while Alabama made 9-27.

Auburn hit just 19-62 field goals for 30.9 percent, but the home team was worse making just 29.7 percent of its 64 shots.

"It was just terrible shooting," Auburn coach Terri Williams-Flournoy said of her team's performance. She noted the Tigers had a chance to build a big early lead in the game, but missed layups and other easy shots.

"We are not setting any type of screens, whatsoever," Williams-Flournoy said about her team's offense. "We are taking too long to get people the ball on the wings. It is just all out of whack."

Auburn dropped to 13-7 on the season and 2-5 in the league. Alabama improved to 12-7 overall and 2-4 in the SEC.

Hasina Muhammad was Auburn's leading scorer with 13 points while Peyton Davis added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Shafontaye Myers led Alabama with 23 points as she hit 7-15 three-pointers.

Auburn hit 13-22 free throws while Alabama made 14-27. Alabama led 51-48 in rebounds. The Tigers turned the ball over 20 times while Alabama had 18 turnovers.
